everything about vitamins

Ergosterol is being changed in our skin into vitamin D - calciferol, through the process started by solar radiation .  Vitamin D is fat-soluble, and helps with absorption of calcium and phosphorus, therefore having a significant influence on healthy bones and teeth.

Sources of vitamin D
It is a bit scarce in usual kind of food, with a little bit being in fish, yolk, margarine, cheese, eggs and cereals. The activity of ultraviolet radioation is still the most aboundant source of vitamin D, presupposing you have enough of the other vitamins and minerals, which are needed in the process.

Shortage of vitamin D is resulting into rhachitis, softening of bones (ossifluence, osteomalacia) and bone aches. Vitamin D with calcium is a fix.

Dietary Reference Intakes published by Food and Nutrition Board of Institute of Medicine of National Academies for vitamin D in 2004 stand at 5-10 micrograms of vitamin D per day for an average healthy adult. Recommendations for infants, children, males and females under 18 years of age, or females during lactation and pregnancy differ from the average.

I have decided to start an active promotion of this website, so that we get more visitors soon. And it would be a waste of time if we didn't allow for discussion and sharing of informations. In light of that, discussion forum will be officially launched on June 21st.

I hope it will serve a positive function in opening alternative horizons in the area of general information about vitamins.
